2020年5月3日,B站上线了一期演讲视频《后浪》,这期视频引发了市场的巨大反响。“后浪”还因此被《青年文摘》评选为“2020十大网络热词”,被《咬文嚼字》评选为2020年度十大流行语。此后,“破圈”就成为了B站发展战略的代名词,即将用户群体以年轻人为主变得更多元,据艾瑞数据,彼时B站的90后占比已达到77.64%。
《后浪》之后,B站又上线了《入海》《喜相逢》,这两期视频的热度相比《后浪》已经大幅下滑,但B站“破圈”的野心已经人尽皆知了。
战略在手,市场也有正向反馈,B站董事长、CEO陈睿顺势在2021年底提出了一个目标,即2023年MAU达到4亿。
